I wanna be in the light

It has been way too long since my last post. I have been doing a lot of reading from CS Lewis such as Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters, Miracles, etc. These books get you to start thinking about things and reflect. Now get ready for random thoughts.

We hear of the concept of good v. bad in so many places. People think there is a constant struggle between good and evil, Empire and Rebellion, God and Satan, etc. I begin to think that we make this struggle more difficult than it really needs to be. Life is hard and is no way easy. Or is it?

Many times we begin to reflect on the sad things in life. We get wrapped up so much in this life that we forget about what is true. It is as if we are in a tunnel and do not see the light at the end. We have been turned away from the light for so long that we forget that the light even exists. Fortunately that light is always there and is always brighter and stronger than the darkness we face.

We might get wrapped up in so many things that we simply turn away from that light. We begin to develop excuses as to why the darkness is so bad. We get worried over work, finances, relationships, education, etc. and begin to let these worries sort of take over and replace our relationship with God. It is as if we get busy and overwhelmed that we forget to take of ourselves. Eventually, the opportunistic infection waits for that one moment in which we are at our weakest to strike.

This is exactly what the darkness is all about. It waits for that time in which you are weak, frail, and easy to influence. Now I am not saying that the darkness (or opportunistic infection) is trying to fully take you over. All it needs is enough of you so that you continue to be distracted from God. Now this is not necessarily something that will completely turn you away from God, but something that simply lets you forget God.

This is how I think of it: if you blasphemy against God, then Satan smile. If you get wrapped up in non-essential things, Satan smiles. Does Satan really care if you turn against God or does Satan want you to simply get too busy for God and become distracted from God?

Remember, the darkness is there as a mere distraction. Although darkness might be all around and urging you to take one step deeper into the darkness, the light is always more powerful. That small hint of light can lead you out of any dark situation.

So maybe you're not turned away from the light.

Maybe you just need to open your eyes and see.

God bless.
